binutils-static software package provides statically linked binutils tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install binutils-static
binutils-static is installed in your system.
Make ensure the binutils-static package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep binutils-static *
You will get with binutils-static package name, version, architecture and description in a table
